The largest hole on Bukkainers The roster is inside the linebacker. While BUCS veteran Lavonte David has signed for the 14th season in Tampa Bay, his retirement is adjacent, and there are no other installed linebackers on the roster. Bucs should draft the future of the situation this year.
These are the 2025 NFL drafts facing books in the inside linebacker status:
Best case landscape: draft Jiyad Campbell in the first round
It would be difficult to argue that Alabama’s Jihad Campbell is the best possibility of linebackers in this year’s draft. Campbell Alabama has a great athlete with an impressive re -beginning. He can do about anything needed from the NFL linebacker: deal with the passer, cover and rush.
Campbell does not have a tendency of Lavantte David (which does?) But he would be a strict improvement on KJ Brit, which was an assignment-sound linebacker, but just a lack of athleticism required to start in Tampa Bay. There will be no such problem in Campbell and it will be immediately upgraded to the center of protecting bucs.
“Price” Pick: Carson Shockinger falling in Tampa Gulf in the second round
The Carson Schwsinger of UCLA is more and more visible in this year’s draft class like the second best off-ball lineback. While their athleticism is not in a particular range, their tendency and speed of processing are visible to play very fast. Pre-walk-on
The recent reduction of the initial-caliber NFL linebackers can make the shoastinger a hot commodity on the day 2 of the draft. Books may be in a position to trade to achieve it if they set their hearts on Lavonte David’s successor. After falling near Pick 53, there will be a major victory for a Tampa Bay team looking for a future to build a future.
“Sleeper” pick: TEDD Buchanan
On the day 3 of the draft, Bucs exit two categories: excellent football players with their athletic capacity and hard ceilings on impressive athletes that are still detecting things on the field. Cal’s Tedid Buchanan falls in the latter category.
Buchanan is sharp, agile and explosive. He can blitz and cover, although he will often find himself out of the situation to create a stop in run defense. At least, Buchanan will contribute immediately to special teams, but it is probably the opposite to start for books below the line.
Popular pick that is not fit: Jalon Walker
The Georgia Hybrid LB Jallon Walon Walon Walker is one of the possibilities of thanks to their clear athleticism and less clear position fit in this year’s draft. BUCS requires both inside and out of linebackers, and while the walker has both roles in his hybrid role with Bulldog, it is not clear whether he can actually play in either position in NFL.
In 6’1 “and 243 pounds, he is near -ototypeic for an off-ball lineback, but is definitely small for an edge defender. He has a lack of ideal range of an off-ball lineback and a concert is a congestion.
While Todd bowls definitely have no qualification to blitzing their linebackers, BUCS stems from every other aspect of the situation of problems inside the lineback next to Lavonte David in the previous season. The walker has such specific symptoms and skills that he will not address the needs of Tampa Bay in any linebacker position.
Worst situation: not draft a linebacker
Much buses, Bucs cannot take the risk of leaving 2025 drafts without a lineback. Lavonte David is in his mid -30s, and the launching launch next to him is the fifth round pick Sirvocea Denis, which has never started a game in NFL. Books signed Anthony Walker from Dolphin, but he is the best spot starter and slightly higher than a player swap for KJ Brit who left Tampa Bay to join Miami.
If nothing else, Tampa Bay requires more options in the linebacker position. In today’s NFL, linebackers often require years to develop in good or reliable beginnings. There is no guarantee of the first round selection or even top-end athletic symptoms that a linebacker will have a good NFL career, so BUCS should not feel pressure to use your first pick on lineback regardless of the need.
Bucs only need to add more talent inside the linebackers. The price can be found throughout the draft, as David’s hall-off-fame resume proved after his selection in the second round of 2012 draft.
