West Virginia Punch Oliver Straw is preparing to exceed the pant only in this season, as he will be the holder of the climber in 2025.

“I was backup last year and could do it when needed, but this year, I am taking holding responsibility,” Straw said.

Straw is in its fourth season in WVU, but has not had to catch during his tenure with climbers. However, as he matures as a player and changes in roster cuts, which can play, it means that Straw will be a new holder.

Straw has played in 37 matches in his career, and with his roots from Australia, when he learned to catch, it is very different from the process of doing it here, live in sports.

“We practice in Australia, and like a lot of things with training in Australia.

Holding is something that Straw has worked in WVU in its three years and is something that he expects to be good in this coming year. Straw stated that he wants to be able to feel the pressure of the game and distribute to climbers in big moments.

“This is something that I practiced and refined in Australia, but it is something that I have done a lot of work in the last three years, because obviously you want to stay on the field as much as possible in those big moments and the goal of a game-winning sector can be a difference in this way. Therefore, it would be great to be out for that kind of thing.

A part of learning to become a holder has also taught straw about the art of catch. Straw said that it has small parts that help fuel the entire operation.

“There are a lot of complications for holding games that really notice the coaches of experts and special teams. It is definitely a wide but forgotten role,” Straw said.
