A liquid is spread as a mathew van der poile battle in the past on the cobbles of the Paris-Rubix (Bernard Papon).

Matthew Van Der Pael was hit on the face with a water bottle thrown on the roadside during the third consecutive win at Paris-Rubix on Sunday, inspired to call the Dutch cyclist to call for action.

The 30-year-old road is a very big star on a cycling scene, but it is not universally popular and has been part of the run-in with fans over the years.

“It was like a stone vulging. The bottle was almost full and weighs half a kilo and when someone throws it, it’s nothing,” he said at his post-race press conference in Rubix Velodrome.

The incident occurred at a distance of 37 km from the end of the race on a cobbled mining road packed with fans, which remained out in the fields for hours.

“Something must be done about it. People who spit and throw, this is too much and I am going to ask to take action,” he said.

“I hope we can recognize who did it and action.”

Van Der Pael was recently placed in the E3 Saxo Classic in Belgium, where he was scored by an uncontrolled section of Belgian fans.

He often threw urine on a cyclocos circuit and also conflicted with a fan in a spitting incident in 2024.

Van Der Pael himself was arrested after a run-in with teenagers, which he accused his hotel door to play ‘Nock-e-Dor-Run’ at his hotel door on the eve of the 2022 World Championship race, for which he was a favorite.

CCTV images showed van der Pael only wearing clothes in underwear, taking teenagers back to their room.

He took out of the race after spending the night at a police station after 50 km.
