Valerie Mahafi, an actress, who is known for her visual-world, “desperate housewives,” and died in Los Angeles in “Northern Experts” after battling cancer on Friday, her campaigner told CBS News in a statement.
Mahafi, who won Amy to play hypochondriq on “Northern Exposure”, was 71 years old.
Her husband, actor Joseph Kail said in a statement, “I have lost the love of my life, and the US has lost one of its beloved actresses. She will miss.”
The remaining people also include his daughter, Alice Richards.

Mahafi made his acting debut in New York City. His platform, film and television work included the soap opera “The Doctors” over 45 years ago and the TV series included roles in “Young Sheldon” and “Desperate Housewives”. She appeared in the film “Suli” with Tom Hax directed by Clint Eastwood, and played Madam Renard in “French Exit” with Mitchell Pafififer.
She won an outstanding supporting actress at a drama series Amy Award for portrayal of Hypoondriq Eve on “Northern Exposure”. Mahafi was born and raised in Indonesia till the age of 11. She then lived in Nigeria, England and Texas.
