UFC on ESPN 69: Kamaru Usman Media Day Interview
The UFC spoke to MMA Janki and reporters on Media Day for its welterweight bout vs. Jokin Bakle in Atlanta at ESPN 69 Headlinear Kamaru Usman.
Atlanta – Kamaru Usman has moved forward with the idea of fighting Belal Muhammad.
Usman (20–4 MMA, 15-3 UFC) was involved in a dispute with former UFC Welterweight Champion Muhammad when he hosted him in the person for a podcast episode. The pair had to be separated, and the idea of a possible fight between them began building steam.
However, now when Muhammad (24-4 MMA, 15-4 UFC) has lost his welterweight title, Usman shot him as a rival.
“Now it’s here: When Belal Muhammad was a champion, was a reason to fight Belal Muhammad,” Usman on Wednesday told MMA Janki and other reporters during UFC on ESPN 69 Media Day. “They had a title. Let’s be honest here: We are not the best friends, but I don’t wish them any bad.
“He is my Muslim brother, so I don’t want to do anything bad to him. But you have to offer me?
Despite being physical between him and Muhammad, Usman insisted that no one is ill towards the former champion.
“Never had bad blood,” said Usman. “This was not really the case. If you really look at history, you look at yourself and Kolbi Covington, the rivalry, which it is over, is Kolbi Kolbi, but there was a story. There were things that are a line with that one. With Belal, it is just a man who became a champion, and then you became champion.
“Many times, he was a bit annoying, and it was too much. There is no bad blood between me and Belal. This is the same. I wish him all the best. If I am a champion, I am sure I want to fight me. If he is a champion, I want to compete against him.”
