It is difficult to stare back the paintings by artist Amy Sherld on performance at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Sherld is known for her portrait of former first woman Mitchell Obama, but the exhibition took a more look at its palette. “This painting is on the show here, and we are very happy to be able to share it with visitors here,” co-operator Ruzeko Hawkley said. “But we really wanted to show the progress of his work as an artist.
“Amy often paints the skin tone of her subjects, which are black people, which we call Grisil, or Gray Tone,” Hawkley said. “It impedes this immediate identity, perhaps even stereotypeings that we all are, you know, subject to.”

This is not the only way to spot a shyled painting. Hawlaley said that a feature of the artist’s work is the body language of his subjects: “Very solid, confident, more confident, but just really sure and still in and still [themselves],
Sherled Exhibition, Hawlaley said, “There is a show that is actually a highly positive feeling of connection, and the shared humanity, and like the beauty coming around each other, which comes from seeing humanity in another.”
