As Utah rolls in three of the week of spring football, the team focuses on integrating new talents, fixing crime and gaining deep understanding of areas for its strength and development.
For the aggressive lineman Kaleb Lomu, he is excited to return to the field with new people on crime, learning and expanding the playbook.
Lomu said, “We have found six practices, the new crime is limited so far and the defense looks very good; obviously we do every year.” “It is nice to go back here and compete with crime is just having fun.”
Lomu likes versatility for crime and how it can protect on its toes.
“We have a lot of options, with Devon [Dampier] In the backfield, “Lomu continued.” He can run, he can throw, he does so. We have a lot of options where we can simply take it and run it, sit there and just throw it away. Last year we were a kind of limited but now we can open the book more and more. ,
Despite the aggressive plan and the newness of many new people, the head coach Kyle Whitingm feels that things seem right where they should be.
“I would say that we are on time, we are in the middle of the spring ball, and we have made a lot of progress till now,” Whitingam said.
Spring is one of the large questions of the ball that will step into the position of a broad receiver. While whitingham is not yet satisfied with it, the group has made some good progress.
Whitingham said, “Still got to solve things in a broad receiver; we are still trying to find out who are going to be Go-Chorning, and this is going to be a process.” “We feel comfortable with a bunch of them, this is just that is going to take steps and play.”
On walking back, the Wayne is leading the Parker Group, but whitingam is impressed by the rest of it.
Whitingam said, “Naqri Rogers is doing a good job. Daniel Brew is a different type of back, but he is doing some good things.” “Hunter Andrews is doing a good job there, and Nat Johnson is also getting some representatives there.”
Both Andrews and Johnson are being used for “slash” roles, not as a regular running back. The primary position of Andrews is now tight end, while Johnson will be put on wherever he can get the ball as a “Swiss Army knife”.
Everyone knows what Johnson can bring to the table. For Andrews, it is the same as Utah used Brent Kuthe.
“(Andrews) is a hybrid, he is a running back/tight and sung,” said Whitingham. “We have seen good things; when he is in the backfield, he does a big job of Blitz pickup. He has gained a lot of speed – a 4.4 child – so he has the ability to go away.”
In quarterbacks, Devon Dampiere continued to set tone for the group, but as a depth piece, Whitingham said that the true freshman bird friclin is making a strong impression.
“Bird Ficlin is doing very good things; he has promised a lot,” said Whitingam. “He is receiving a good command of crime and he has really found a good hand. He is starting to feel comfortable in crime, and we showed more things seen on the film.”
With all the initial positivity during the spring ball, the intrigue must be seeing how the depth charts shakes.
