Golden State Warriors still managed to win a major victory on Tuesday night despite losing Step Curry in the first half of Game 1 against Minnesota Timberwells. The former back-to-back MVP was forced to exit in the second quarter and was unable to return after diagnosing the left hamstring stress.
Despite the absence of Curry, Warriors were still capable of stealing the house-court benefits from Minnesota, with a 99–88 win at the target center.

Kerr’s comments attracted a quick response from Shakeel O’Neel during the NBA at TNT’s postgame show. According to the Hall of Fame Big Man, he believes that Warriors will not play curry in Game 2.
“This is chess, not checkers,” he said. “We won tonight, so we did what we were not going to do. However, we have completed it, so we are probably going to sit in (in) game 2, no matter what we get all the details.
“Hopefully, it’s just a little stress, but Steve Cair said it is best. It is part of the game, and someone has to move.”

O’Neel called Buddy Hillad and Jimmy Butler to step into Curry, while two -time MVP injuries sent a blunt message to Warriors.
“But without Step, they are just a regular team,” O’Nell continued. “But, you know, I say, give them rest to this next game. And then if we win that game, rest again.
“Because, again, it is chess, not checkers.”
After MRI results are returned, warriors should provide sufficient updates on the status of curry for game 2. However, O’Neel, not taking its breath-in terms of availability of curry for the lesser Thursday game.
