UFC 316: Merab Dvalishvili Post-fight interview
The UFC 316 winner Merb Dwarishwili spoke after the fight with MMA Janki and reporters after protecting his Bandit’s title on Sean O’Mali.
Newark, NJ – Merb Dwarishwili has set the bar high for gifts at the upcoming wedding of its Pal Alzaman Sterling.
Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) defended his Bandit in Remach in Remach with East-Champ Scewas O’Mali (18-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) at the UFC 316 Main event on Saturday. Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley with a major decision with this previous decline, and made things even easier with the third round submission in Remach.
Later, the champion credited his long -time good friends and training companions, former Banomvet Champion Alzaman Sterling to work with him during the training camp – and promised him to give half of his $ 50,000 performance of the night bonus as a wedding gift.
When Sterling was the champion, Dvalishvili said he was satisfied not to fight for the belt until his friend held it. But O’Mali was the one who separated Sterling, which paved the way for Dwarishwili to run his title – and sent Sterling to Fatherweight.
“In this training camp, my friend Aljaman Sterling helped me a lot,” Dwarishwili said at his post-fight news conference at the Prudential Center. “He has no fight (booked) – he is getting married. He didn’t really like Sparing, but he was scattered with me three times a week (to copy O’Mali). He was twice as much better than the striking of Scene O’Mali. He was not trying to shoot me, take me.
“This again proves that it is not always the best fighter that wins. O’Ai became really lucky against Alzo. But I am grateful to my friend Aljman Sterling.”
Dvalishvili is known for its tireless speed and cardio – but has also been criticized for the lack of ending when they resume. O’Malley broke a streak of five direct decisions for the champion to present.
Overall, his 20 career has gone at a distance of 15 distances of victory. His only UFC Finnish came against Marlon Mores in 2021 before O’Mali Remach.
