Marcus Freeman Notre Dame may not be more clear on its opinion-USC Reputation.
The head coach of the Irish football program believes that both programs should be available on an annual basis.
“This college is a great rivalry for all of football,” Framina said at an interview session with several local beat writers on Thursday. “If it was above me, we will play them every year for the rest of the college football time. It is very black for me.
“You want my opinion? I want to play them every year. When I don’t care. I don’t care when we play them. The beginning of the season, the end of the season, the end of the season – I don’t care. I want to play USC every year, because I think this is very good for college football.”

The future of Notre Dame-SUC series made headlines last week Sports IllustratedThe Pat Ford highlighted the fact that the game of October 18 at the Notre Dame Stadium is currently scheduled between two programs at the end of this year. Forde reported that the USC offered a year expansion of a scheduleing contract to host a domestic game at Los Angeles in 2026, but notre Dame rejected the proposal in the hope of achieving a long -term agreement.
Both teams have played 95 times in a series that began in 1926, which has been interrupted by World War II in the 1943–45 season and Covid-19 in 2020. But the future of the annual series has come with the recent arrival of the USC in Big Ten and an unwanted college football playoff format beyond the 2025 season.
Notre Dame is on the same page with athletic director Pete Bevqua Freeman.
“I think Southern Cal and Notre Dame should play until the college football is played every year, and SC knows how we feel,” Bewakwa told Ford.
The USC Associate Athletic Director Kodi Vorsham also gave a quote to Ford.
“We want USC -Notre Dame to continue rivalry, which is why we extended our agreement,” said Varsham. “This is a special game for our fans and our organization. We will continue to work with the Notre Dame on schedule of future games.”
