A German YouTuber and a London thrill-waller took the top honor (and possibly some injuries) in one of Britain’s most chaotic and bizarre sports traditions: Annual Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling Race,
For the second year in a row, Tom Kopke of Munich took care of the air, dropping down the 200-yard, almost vertical hills after a running wheel of double glucoster in front of thousands of spectators.
“On top, all people said they were going to steal my title, but it is mine,” a shirtless Koppke announced that he closed his award-7-Pound (3-Cylogram) cheese circle. “I put my life at risk for this. This is my cheese. Back to back.”
In the women’s race, Logan from London emerged victorious. “I will probably feel it tomorrow,” she said. “It has been coming down for a long time and then I hit my head. I am down, this is what I am.”
The origin of this wild phenomenon is not clear, although it is believed that it is far ahead of its earlier recorded mention in 1826.
