Los Angeles-free-agent pass Rashar Zaderius Smith is aware that he wants to continue his game’s career.
His heart is still in Motown.
“We both know where I want to be,” Smith told the USA Today Sports at the 2025 BET Awards. “Hopefully I can return to Detroit because everyone in the coaching staff and front office is great. When I am there I feel like a leader and as I can impress young people and do great work. Hopefully I can come back where I want to live in Detroit.”

Lions acquired Smith from Brown in the previous season before the trade deadline. Detroit got Smith at a time, in which the club was in dire need of the help of pass after Aidan Hachinson’s season-ending leg injury.
Experienced produced 12 tackle, four sacks and 40 pressures in eight matches with all Lions without Hachinson. Hutchinson, Smith and Defense Tackle Alim McNell were the highest-grade passes of Lions last year, according to the Pro Football Focus.
Since Hutchinson, this offsen has been approved to return to football activities, and Smith believes that both can create a stout edge.
“I am still an experienced. He is still a young man. I can help him with a lot of things. He is already great but as a player there are some tools that I know I can help him,” Smith said. “And there are some things as a young man with whom he can help me.”
Smith is one of the top remaining free agents of the USA Today Sports. He has compiled 333 tackles, 69 sacks and 173 QB hits in regular 140 career regular-season games. The 32 -year -old showed this in the previous season that he still has a lot left to give it to a team. In this stage of Smith’s career, however, a three-time Pro Baller wants to compete for a championship-and he is hoping that he will pursue a ring in Detroit.
“I am going in 11 years. The only thing I miss as an experienced (a championship),” Smith said. “I bowled sacks, all-pr, pro boule, so it is really just receiving me a ring and winning a championship.”
