Chicago BlackHox has its own last domestic game of the season on Saturday night. They will take the Central Division-Leiding Vinypeg Jets to close things for the year. Jets, who have a track inside the trophy of NHL presidents, are always a tough challenge.
This is more than just the last home game for BlackHox. This will be the last game in the amazing career of Patrick Marun.
Marun will skate in his 848th career game and with the 68th BlackHox. He also spent time with Anahem Duck, Tampa Bay Lightning, Admonton Olers, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, New Jersey Devils and Boston Brins.
Known as man "The Big Rig" All those teams have different effects. For Chicago, it was about being a great leader for a group of young children.
During the 2024–25 season, Marun was amazing for all. There are countless methods that he helped less experienced players, but a memory will always be out.
This is why when he took Lucas Richel with him to St. Louis, to stay with his family for the holidays, when Reichel did not have to go anywhere else. Such gestures made maroon especially as a person out of ice as snow.
Marun was nominated as BlackHox for his work this year for the Mastrton Trophy. The award is awarded per year to the player who performs the most perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
During his NHL career, Marun was a scary fighter who improved the group under his team. He also scored more than 100 goals and had more than 300 points. It included a 27-gol season when he was a member of the Olers in 2016-17.
When Maroon was with his hometown St. Louis Blues, he scored a goal to win overtime against Dallas Stars in the second round game. Eventually, he won the Stanley Cup.
After winning the Stanley Cup in the next two years, Marun did it to make it three in a row. He came as a member of Tampa Bay Lightning as he went back-to-back.
Marun will not travel with BlackHox, closing the year in Montreal and Ottawa. He is going to end his career, where he did his NHL Debut, The United Center. Where it began as a member of Anahem Duck, it would end as a member of the Chicago BlackHox.
Chicago is sure to send Maroon feeling good about himself. He has been a good warrior at every stage, who made him a fan favorite about every city he played.
Due to not being a full-time NHL player until the 2013-14 season, AHL in the middle became a ton of time, and finally three times the Stanley Cup champion for the game, Marun’s love for the game. That is proof that you can find a little dedication and hard work where you want to go.
This will not be the final to see Marun in the last years. Whether it is in media or as part of an organization in hockey opes, it will be around. For now, he will be celebrated in his last game of a memorable career.
