San Antonio hosted its fifth final four at the end of this week at Almodome and it was like a small repetition of the last time when the city hosted the last four.
Like the 2018 final four, the National Champion was a school that claimed its third National Championship in its fourth presence in the championship game and the sixth final fore. In 2018, it was cutting the nets in Almodome after Wilnova won all of them in Houston in 2016 and in 1985 in Lexington, Kentki.
There were similarities for the last four of 2008 that for the second time all the number one seed made the last four. Like the 2008 final four, a large 12 team reaches the championship game in the final final of the 2025, but in 2008, Canasas finished the job, but Houston came to a play short in 2025.
For Duke, it was like Deja Wu. After attending the 2004 final four, Blue Devils visited Alamodom for the 2025 Final Four. Like the last four of 2004, this version of Blue Devils was in Almodome for only one game. In 2004, he lost to Connecticut Hakis, who defeated Georgia Tech in the National Championship Game. The 2025 version of the Blue Devils looked close to reaching the championship game, but lost to Houston Coggors after a historic comeback to unconscious of Blue Devils.
Houston itself will be at the wrong end of history on Monday night as it was not able to reach a 12 -point lead in the second half against Florida. Cougars had a company in that state. In the 1998 Championship Sports, Kentki Wildcats at the Kentki played at Almodome Utah took a 12 -point lead over Kentki before it exceeded the deficit to win its seventh national championship.
The 1998 final four had another similarity for the 2025 Final Four. Both had a school making their second appearance in the final four. It was Stanford Cardinal in 1998, who was the second time after winning the National Championship in 1942 and in the final four for the first time. This year it was Obern Tigers who had been making their first final four since the final national champion Virginia fell in the semi -finals in 2019. Like the 1998 Cardinal, the 2025 fell into the Elemodom in the semi -finals.
If Almodome is found to host a sixth final four, it will not be until the 2030s because its sites have been decided through 2031 in the final four. The city of San Antonio can do host institutions of the city, Buxar County, and UTSA and UIW, which can keep Alamodom in the final four conversations and it is a lot. Host four separate teams teams and fanbase.
Perhaps Almodom would have a sixth final four, but if it was the last time to be on the dance floor for the final dance of Madness, it went out with a blast.

Alamodome leads more history for another historical final four involved teams
Four teams visited San Antonio last Wednesday and entered the area before the last four semi -finals at Almodom on Saturday. All four teams came to the city with a goal. He wanted to become the last team on Monday night.
For Houston and Obern, it was a feeling that fans of those schools never experienced. Houston was in its seventh final final in the history of the program and was first place since 2021. Caugar had so far cut the nets as a national champion, but was hoping that it would turn into alamodom. Obern was in its second final four and in six years first. Obern fell into Florida in the first semi-final 79–73, leading to most of the game.
Duke was the school with the last four appearances. This was the 18th appearance of Blue Devils in the final four and entered the second semi -finals against Houston on Saturday, which had been the 12th time in the history of the program in the hope of winning the sixth national championship in the history of the program and before 2015 before 2015.
Most of the national semi -finals appeared that Duke could play against Florida on Monday night. Blue Devils left the second half with 14 points, 59–45, in the second half, but then went to the final 10:30 of the game without scoring a field goal and Houston won the Blue Devils and won 70–67.
The two teams were established on Monday night in Almodom of two teams with a similar 35–4 records in Houston and Florida. There was a lot on the line for both teams. Houston was in the National Championship game for the third time in the history of the program, but the first time since 1984 was in favor of Hakim Olajuvon and Georgetown’s Patrick Ewing, a duality of men in favor of Georgetown 84-75. It was the second of two national championship deficit in a row for Houston, who under the leadership of Jim Walvano, under the leadership of the Nek State, was a year ago, a year ago, who was the youngest coach to win a national championship at the age of 37 years. Houston was also looking at head coach Calvin Sampson to give his 800th career victory.
Florida was in its fourth National Championship Game, won all in 2006 and 2007 after losing in 2000. Gaters entered the trophy for the third time on Monday and allowed Head Coach Todd Golden to become the youngest national champion coach since Valwano in 1983.
On Monday, it appeared for the night most of the night that Kagar could be on his way for a school for a perfect 4–0 record as a school hosted in Almodom as well as a school hosted in Almodome. Cougars led for more than 30 minutes of the game. Florida led only one minute and three seconds, but unfortunately the gates for the kugars led at the most important time of the game, when the watch reached zero.
Finally it was Orange and Blue Confede which fell from the Center hanging as Florida and Houston was once again left as the worst looking team in the country.

Florida gives Houston a more painful final four moments
There is no program among all the teams competing in men’s college basketball that is more snakes than Houston Kagar.
Houston has made it in seven last fours, including 2025, and in every last four, he lost to the last national champion. He has the highest last four shows by any school who has not won the National Championship.
In 1967, Kagar made his first visit for the last four, but attended John Wooden and UCLA Brins in the National semi-finals and lost 73–58 to the UCLA. UCLA defeated Danon in the championship game. This was followed by a third place game in the final four and in 1967 Houston won the third position on North Carolina.
A year later in 1968, Houston returned to the final four and once again the bracket shook in such a way that he faced UCLA in the national semi -finals. Earlier that year Houston defeated UCLA in a regular season game in Astrodome, which snatched the 47-game winning streak for Bruce. It was the game in Astrodome that helped expand the popularity of college basketball and was the birth of sports played in large stadiums such as Alamodom. The UCLA took its revenge in the final four in 1968, defeating Houston 101–69 in the semi-finals before winning their fourth championship against North Carolina in five years. Houston fell in the game third from Ohio State, 89-85 the next day.
This was 14 years before Houston returned to the last four. In 1982, Kagar arrived in the final four, but ran into a northern Carolina team in the semi -finals, with Michael Jordan as well as a new man named James Worth and Sam Perkins. Houston’s team was known as Fee Slama Jama led by Hakim Olajuvon and Clide Drexler, but in the end Northern Carolina won 68-63 before defeating Georgetown for the championship.
In 1983, Phi Slama Jama returned to the final four and this time he made it in the National Championship Game, where he was in favor of defeating the NC state. Cougars came close, but one last-second Miss was placed by the NC state by Lorenzo Charles of the NC and was stunned in the loss of Cougars 54-52.
A year later in 1984, Kagar returned to the championship game, where he met Georgetown Hoyas. The game raised Hakim Olajuvon against Patrick Ewing. Georgetown quickly dropped the drama, leading Houston 84–75 and reached a distance of 10 to 10 years before being caught.
The first five trips for the Final Four were when the Crows were led by Gai V. Lewis did it. Lewis retired as a coach after the 1986 season. The program became inactive after retiring. It was not reborn in 2014 until Kelvin Sampson is hired. In 2018, Sampson took Houston to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2010. They have made it every season and the longest active streak in the country has made six straightly sweet assets.
Sampson returned Houston in the final four in 2021, but he lost to the final national champion Biler in the national semi -finals. Cougar reached the National Championship Game in 2025, but lost 65–63 to Florida. Houston now hopes that she can eventually get out of the hump next year and became the first team to win a national championship a year after the North Carolina lost in the championship game since 2017.
I was hoping that Cougars would win on Monday night as my family has deep roots with Houston University. My father is accompanied by a alum, with his three brothers and sisters. My grandfather helped start and teach in the Electrical Engineering Department for decades. My grandmother was a alum of the university and worked as the editor of the Daily Cougar in the early 40s.
My grandparents -Dadi Gai V. Lewis had neighbors and as a child in the 90s, I used to hear stories from family and boy about the university. All of them were always proud of the university, but there was also a gust of pain that they had come so close in basketball but did not win a national championship.
I wanted to stay in Almodome to see Houston Alams of Houston Alams to win Houston and share it with him. Finally on Monday, there was another reminder that it seems that Houston would always be left so close to glory, but it exploded in heart -breaking fashion.
Someday Houston will win a national championship. Someday San Antonio will get one and final four to host the last four. Perhaps the stars will align and the next time San Antonio Host Houston gets work.
