The Scotty Sheffer broke silence after a bad day in the US Open 2025 that originally appeared on athlon sports.
Scotty Chefler failed to work on his magic during the first round of the US Open. He managed three Birds on the most difficult course, but after 18-over 3-over bogies to end with equal scores.
Chefler was disappointed with his performance, which also included him to slam his club on the ground after a shot in the 14th Hole. After the first round, the Sheffer further did T49 with a long climb.
“This is one of those places. There is not a ton strategy, I would say,” the chefler told reporters on Thursday.
“This is just you step there on a tea box and (are) as what club can I get in this fair and then you hit that club in the fairway and if you don’t, it’s okay how I am going to get out like this and take the ball back to the fairway so that I can put a shot in green.”

“This is not like a highly strategic golf course, where you know that there are lots of club options from tea and accessories,” Shefer said. “This is just a golf course where you step on the tea box, you look at that fairway and you are like, okay, keep ball.”
The world number 1 was not alone in getting such a bad start. Even Bryson was a disappointing beginning for the chief with decombo, defending US Open Champion, Rory McClayo.

Dechambeau birds two holes, but the bogie in five, equivalent to his score to 3-overs just like a Sheffoler. Live Golf Star ended T49 even after the first round.
Mcilroy made a strong start with two shovedies at nine, but bogged the fourth hole and double boged to finish with a score equal to 4 overs in T62.
