Adam Silver finally confirms the new NBA all-star game setup that originally appeared on athlon sports.
The NBA faced a lot of criticism in the years for its all-star game. For example, the competition between the players declined, the fan also dropped.
In an attempt to promote engagement with all angles, the League implemented a new format for the 2025 NBA all-star game.
Instead of traditional former vs. West Matchup or team captain Draft, NBA introduced a four-team tournament. Three teams were made up of NBA all-stars, while the fourth was shown to winners from the Rising Stars Challenge.

“Yes, so the next year, the all-star game returns to NBC as part of our new media deal, where it was when we were younger,” Silver said.

Silver also noted that it would take it to the Winter Olympics on NBC and will come out with it.
“And it happens that there will be a smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics in the next season,” Silver said.
“So in fact, the game will be on NBC, and the day we are on, the lead-in will be the Winter Olympic event. And then coming out of the all-star game, which is not going in the afternoon instead of the afternoon, there will be more Olympic programs. So what will be the better time for the convenience of some form of USA against the world?”
Silver said that the format has not been determined yet, but confirmed that it would be the USA vs.
“I am not sure what the format will be yet, clearly paid a lot to what NHL did with 4-countries, which was a big success.”
