Lima-Alan County Shark suffered only three damage, but she had to overcome some adversity to stand on Wednesday.
The city of Lima honored the basketball team with a proclamation at the weekly press conference of Mayor Sharata Smith for her gold medal at the special Olympics.
“It was not easy,” said the frontcourt player Anthony Chamber. “The competition was difficult, but becoming a champion again was a very good feeling because I did it for my family and loved ones. Those who supported us did not give up and helped us move forward.”
The team lost to Lucas County by 40 points but kept things together.
“We had to fight through the season, but at the end of the day, we stayed firm and we went to go to the community,” a guard, Maurice Mike said. “I want to thank my God and Savior Jesus Christ because I know anything with him, and I thank me for thanking my family.”
Shark defeated Madison County for Gold 63-55 for the Division 3 State Championship on Sunday, March 9, and some members participated in individual skills competitions previous day (((bit.ly/3fqvyaw,
Guard Johnny Wilson said he was grateful to stay in the team.
He said, “This was my first time, who was bringing home at home, and we faced a good, difficult team.” “We were below 10 in the fourth quarter, and we had to collect collectively as a team.”
Anton Glenn, Debo Banale, Christian Bacit, Lamont Nash, Michael Bayry and Roger Golden were rounded out to the team, trained by John Wade and Patrick Strong.
